// About Marmion Engineering · Greenore, Co. Louth

Thirty Years of Steel.
One Workshop. One Standard.

Marmion Engineering is a family-run, EN1090 EX2 certified steel fabrication company on the Cooley Peninsula in Co. Louth. From bespoke gates for family homes to structural steelwork trusted by ports and distilleries, everything we make follows the same route: drawn in CAD, cut and welded in our Greenore workshop, and installed by our own crew.

Our Story

Built on the Border, Known Well Beyond It

Greenore is a working port village at the tip of the Cooley Peninsula — steel, salt air and ships. It’s the right home for a fabrication business: our workshop at Millgrange has spent three decades turning raw steel, stainless and aluminium into things that have to work, in weather that punishes anything built carelessly.

We’ve stayed deliberately hands-on. No imported catalogue products, no subcontracted installs — the person who quotes your job is connected to the person who welds it and the crew that fits it. That’s why businesses across Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK keep coming back, and why our gates hang on driveways their owners stopped thinking about years ago — which is exactly the point.

The Man on the Tools

Eddie Marmion — Founder & Lead Engineer

Eddie founded the company and still runs it the same way: he takes the first call, measures the job himself, and signs off the finished work. Thirty years of steel, stainless and aluminium fabrication sit behind every project — from Art Nouveau gate scrollwork to 17-metre sliding gates and structural steel for working ports.

One person accountable from enquiry to handover. It’s an old-fashioned way to run an engineering firm, and it’s why our repeat clients — some of them 16 years and counting — wouldn’t have it any other way.

How We Work

What Three Decades Taught Us

Certified, Not Claimed

EN1090 EX2 certification means our structural steelwork is audited against European standards — paperwork included, on every job.

Everything In-House

CAD design, plasma cutting, press brake, welding, finishing and installation — one workshop, one accountable team.

Built for Irish Weather

Hot-dip galvanising and marine-grade finishing, proven on port and coastal work where salt air destroys shortcuts.

Honest Engineering

Itemised quotes, CAD drawings before fabrication, and a straight answer when a cheaper route would serve you better.

Craft Meets Capability

The same hands that scroll Art Nouveau ironwork weld certified structural steel — rare range, one roof.

Here for the Life of It

We service, repair and stand over what we build — and what others built too. Gates, fitouts and pits that outlast trends.

Trusted By

The Company Ports and Distilleries Keep

Our client list tells its own story: XOCEAN has worked with us on marine-grade aluminium for over 7 years; Greenore Port relies on our engineering for safety-critical steelwork; and Great Northern Distillery has trusted Eddie’s work across Cooley and GND projects for more than 16 years. When your gate, van fitout or inspection pit comes from the same workshop, it inherits the same standard.
